Ian Shott

Ian Shott

President & Chief Executive Officer

Excelsyn founder and Chief Executive Officer Ian Shott has held senior executive positions in the international pharmaceutical and fine chemicals industries for over twenty years and has worked in the UK, France, Switzerland and U.S. Most recently, Ian was President of Rhodia ChiRex’s Manufacturing Division, having previously held posts at Lonza and Zeneca. He is Chairman of the Centre of Excellence for Life Sciences (CELS) and Chairman of the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation & Growth Team. He graduated in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College.

Paul Ryan

Paul Ryan

Chief Financial Officer

Paul Ryan joined Excelsyn from Rhodia Pharma Solutions where he served as Financial Controller for their Custom Manufacturing & Intermediates Business Unit. Previously he was Finance Manager at McVitie's in Carlisle, England. A Chartered Accountant since 1990 with big four accounting experience, he is a graduate of the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.

David Rowles

David Rowles

Chief Operating Officer

David Rowles leads operations at our Holywell site. He has more than 20 years experience in drug development and manufacturing. Previously he held senior management roles within Great lakes Fine Chemicals division. He has a PhD in chemistry from the University of North Wales, Bangor.

Reg Shaw

Reg Shaw

Non-executive Chairman

Until recently, Reg was Managing Director, Biopharmaceutical Operations at Wyeth Medica Ireland. He had overall responsibility for the world’s largest single-site biopharmaceutical campus, overseeing 1200 staff and leveraging corporate investment in the areas of neurotherapeutics, mammalian expression and protein discovery.

A Fellow of the Institute of Chemistry of Ireland since 1984, he gained his BSc and PhD in Chemistry at University College, Galway.
Prior to joining Wyeth in 1999, Reg spent 25 years with SmithKline Beecham Corporation in a number of global, senior management positions, culminating in 2 years as Director and Senior Vice President of SB’s Global Sourcing Organisation.

Marion Bernard

Marion Bernard

Marion has 12 years experience in debt and equity finance, including 8 years investing as a venture capitalist in early stage companies. She graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, after which she joined Barclays Bank plc where she focused on corporate banking and acquisition finance.

She worked for 6 years for 3i, including 2 years in the Newcastle office and 3 years in the 3i Group Healthcare team as a senior investment manager. Marion then moved to Impax Asset Management Ltd based in London, where she led the investments for an innovative new venture capital fund focused on addressing the ‘equity gap’ in the UK recycling sector.

Malcolm Simpson

Malcolm Simpson

Malcolm has over 30 years experience of growing profitable businesses. Following the flotation of Greggs plc he was instrumental in its growth from a market cap of £15m to £551m, including several acquisitions. He has strong background in IT leadership, corporate governance and risk management. Malcolm qualified as an accountant with KPMG.
